Carter's First Thanksgiving!
Carter celebrated his first Thanksgiving today at his Great Aunt Mary's house. There were many greats there: Great Gramma, Great Uncle Bill, Great Aunt Jen, and Great Aunt Mary. Gramma Barb was there, too! Carter also got to meet his First Cousins Once Removed Chris and Rhianna with their son, and Carter's Second Cousin, Liam; his First Cousin Once Removed Jared; his First Cousin Once Removed Jacob; and his dog Hank's Second Cousin Nibbles. Hank, unfortunately (well, probably, fortunately) was unable to attend. -John (& Family)

Carter's First ER Visit!
First, everything is fine. Now that we have that out of the way, the story: This afternoon we noticed that Carter was awake but wouldn't open his eyes. In particular, he seemed to be favoring his right eye. So, we called our pediatrician's call service to see if there was something that was safe to use to flush out an infant's eye. The call service declined to recommend anything to us and told us that we should take Carter to urgent care. So, we did. Unfortunately, we got there and urgent care told us they didn't take patients Carter's age and sent us on to the ER. So, off we went to Renown's new pediatric ER. It turned out that Carter had a nice piece of hair in his eye that had probably been in there for a little while. Because of the hair, Carter had been rubbing and scratching his eye and had caused a corneal abrasion. Anyway, the hair is out, and the only treatment needed is to keep little hands away from a little eye and some antibiotic drops.
The ER probably was overkill, but what could we do? And with all their fancy lights and dyes and a doctor who knew exactly what she was doing, going there was a good idea.
Also, Carter had the doctor and two nurses wrapped around his apparently cute little fingers. At one point he let out a coo and all three went "aaaww."
Anyway, beyond that saga, the day was pretty uneventful. Carter played and slept. We also did a walk on which we saw cows and wild horses but no coyotes this time (no pictures of the cows or horses on the blog, but for those that are interested, there are some available through the Picasa link).
Pictures and video below.

Carter is So Helpful
O.k. maybe not. Gramma Barb is coming next week and some cleaning had to be done. We had time to clean, but Carter decided he didn't want to stay down for a nap. So, he got to help dad clean by being a good boy in the front pack and not crying while dad did his part of the cleaning. Hank helped, too, by staying off the kitchen floor until it was dry. :-) -John (& Family)
